A pre-requisite for all leadership-level and Technical / Extended Range training, the PADI Rescue Diver program is a pivotal step in expanding a diver’s knowledge and experience. It’s often been described as a challenging yet the most satisfying diving course. Here you will learn to prevent and manage problems in the water, and become more confident in your skills as a diver.
Rescue Diver training enhances the basic problem prevention and accident management skills that divers acquire during the PADI Open Water Diver program. You will be trained to manage more complex dive emergencies and apply direct intervention techniques to assist in an emergency.
The course is physically and mentally demanding, as it is realistic in its conduct, content and approach. The classroom training session will involve group discussions on various emergency scenarios, their solutions and pre-emptive measures. You will learn the ways and means to recognize a potential problem before it escalates into a full-blown emergency. You will also receive practical in-water training on at least 10 rescue scenarios – from assisting a tired diver to rescuing an unconscious diver from underwater. This is coupled with mental tools to help you keep calm in an emergency and ensure your own safety, which is the key to any successful rescue.
Note: Participants must be PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certified or possess an equivalent SSI/CMAS/NAUI/IANTD/BSAC certification; and must have an up to date internationally recognized First Aid qualification completed within the last 24 months (You could do this with us with an EFR course).
